On March 30, Panini Blockchain opened its Ethereum bridge, allowing collectors to move digital cards into self-custody wallets and buy and sell them on OpenSea. With OpenSea as Panini’s onchain marketplace, collectors can now buy and sell officially licensed digital collectibles beyond the Panini platform.
Among the first collections available for bridging are Toikido’s Bad Eggs Prizm collections, expanding a fast-growing universe known for its humor, style, and character-driven storytelling. With new factions, evolving lore, and a roadmap that spans animation, gaming, and physical products, Bad Egg Co. is building far beyond its origins as a collectible drop.
We spoke with Darran Garnham, CEO of Toikido and creator of Bad Egg Co., about the brand’s evolution, the latest release, and how cross-platform ownership is shaping the future of collecting.

OpenSea: For readers new to the franchise, what is Bad Egg Co. and why did the first drop resonate so strongly with web3 collectors?
Darran Garnham: Bad Egg Co. is a rebellious, tongue-in-cheek world built around characters who refuse to stay in their carton. It blends skate culture, streetwear, meme energy, and animated humor into a brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously and that authenticity connected instantly with collectors.
The first drop resonated because it delivered what web3 audiences crave:
- Strong character design
- A clear sense of culture and attitude
- A world that feels bigger than the collection
- A team committed to building an ongoing story, not just a moment
People could see very quickly it was the foundation of an entertainment universe.
OpenSea: Bad Egg has always leaned into humor, character, and culture. How does Drop 2 push boundaries further?
Darran Garnham: Drop 2 leans even harder into the identity of the brand. Where Drop 1 established the tone and personality, Drop 2 expands the world with more defined factions, deeper lore, and a stronger visual language.
We’re building groups with attitude, clans that feel like they belong in a living, breathing New Yolk City. The humor is sharper, the designs are bolder, and the references pull from street culture, gaming, and digital art. It’s a level-up in every sense.

OpenSea: This drop launched on Panini Blockchain, with collectibles now bridgeable to OpenSea. How does cross-platform digital ownership fit into your long-term vision?
Darran Garnham: Cross-platform ownership is essential for the future of collecting. Collectors should be able to:
- Display their items where they want
- Trade where the audience is
- Build value across ecosystems, not just within one platform
The ability to bridge to OpenSea unlocks a wider collector base and aligns perfectly with our vision: Bad Egg Co. should live wherever fans live.
OpenSea: Beyond the drop, the brand is expanding into toys, animation, and gaming. How does this Panini release set the stage for future storytelling?
Darran Garnham: Each clan is a seed for future development, in animation, toys, apparel, Roblox, and more. Panini is often the first place fans see a character, and that introduction creates recognition when those characters appear elsewhere.
Drop 2 essentially expands our cast list. These factions will show up in storylines, in collectibles, in shorts, and eventually in physical products. It’s worldbuilding at scale.

OpenSea: Drop 2 features 30 all-new characters across six clans. What inspired these factions, and how do they build on the existing lore?
Darran Garnham: We really wanted to expand our understanding of New Yolk City. Up until now, the focus has been on our core characters, their neighborhoods, their lives, their immediate world. Introducing new locations, families, and factions lets us scale the universe and build out the world for the animated series and the brand as a whole.
In the original NFT collection, we introduced Golden and Silver legendary eggs, and this drop allowed us to give those concepts more provenance inside the story. The Mythics hint at the folklore and legends that naturally exist in every culture — including ours.
And of course… everyone loves zombies. We expect the Zombie Mob to play a big role as we expand into toys.
Lucha Libre and the Kabuki Clan were created because they’re visually striking, culturally expressive, and just bloody cool. They introduce sporting, theatrical, and subcultural elements that make the world feel richer and more diverse.
The clans really deepen the offering, they make New Yolk City feel like a living, layered place.

OpenSea: This release also introduced upgraded card types, team cardsets and Panini’s first-ever glitch video cards. What excites you most?
Darran Garnham: The glitch cards are a milestone. It’s the first time Panini has implemented video inside a digital trading frame, and Bad Egg Co. gets to pioneer that. The movement, the distortion effect, the attitude — it fits the brand perfectly.
The team cardsets also help collectors see each clan as its own tight-knit squad. It’s worldbuilding through collectible design, and that’s something we value hugely.
OpenSea: Can you break down what comes in each pack and how the rarity tiers work for Prizm Bad Eggs - Introducing the Clans?
Darran Garnham: Every pack contains two digital cards:
- One Uncommon card from either the Base set or The Clans set (#/269)
- One additional card that is Rare, Epic, or Legendary, ranging from (#/149 all the way to #/1)
It’s a clean structure with meaningful scarcity, enough supply to collect, but enough rarity to keep things exciting for long-term collectors.

OpenSea: Challenges are becoming the core to digital collecting. How do the Prizms Blue Collection Challenge and Cross-Collection Challenge enhance engagement?
Darran Garnham: Challenges give collectors purpose beyond the initial pack opening. The Prizms Blue Collection Challenge rewards completionists, while the Cross-Collection Challenge encourages collectors to engage with the wider ecosystem, not just a single drop.
It’s about driving engagement through progression, building prestige around collecting rather than just trading.
OpenSea: There’s a bonus for Toikido NFT holders: the Prizms Green Parallel. Why was rewarding early supporters important?
Darran Garnham: The NFT holders were here before any Panini drop existed. They’re the earliest believers in the brand, and we wanted to give them something meaningful, something that recognises their role in shaping Bad Egg Co.
The Prizms Green Parallel is our way of saying, “You’re part of this story. You matter.” And we will continue building moments like this as the story unfolds.

OpenSea: Looking ahead, what can the community expect next? More clans, new mechanics, upcoming collabs?
Darran Garnham: We’re building Bad Egg Co. for the long term. You can expect:
- More clans and deeper lore
- New card formats and mechanics
- More integrations across gaming and social platforms
- Brand and IP partnerships that bring fresh eyes into the ecosystem
- A growing slate of animated shorts and character content
This drop is just the next chapter, not the destination. We’re building a full entertainment universe, and the community is at the center of it.
