Saying Goodbye to OS1: What’s Changing and What Comes Next

We’ve rebuilt OpenSea from the ground up, and with OS2 officially out of beta, it’s time to take the next step forward. On Monday, June 16, we’ll begin deprecating the legacy OpenSea (OS1) interface, marking a full transition to the new OpenSea experience for everyone.

What’s Going Away

Almost all features of OS1 have been included or improved in the new version of OpenSea. However, as of June 16, the following OS1 features will sunset:

  • Deals: We’ll be deprecating the Deals feature. It’s a powerful tool, but only used by a very small subset of our user base. While there are no immediate plans to bring this functionality into the new OpenSea, we plan to listen to feedback and could decide to include it in a future product roadmap.

  • English Auctions: This listing format will be removed. It was rarely used, and we’re going to be focusing on more popular trade types and formats.

  • Multi-Currency Listings/Offers: The new OpenSea currently supports listings and offers in one currency per collection. Support for multi-currency configurations — available in OS1 — will be deprecated.

  • Testnets: The new OpenSea will not support testnet activity at this time. If that changes, we’ll share updates down the line.

  • The OS1 Non-Creator Interface: All trading, collecting, and discovery will now take place on our new platform. Your assets, orders, and data are already available there — no action is needed from your side.
  • Shopping Cart: While you can purchase multiple items at once in the new OpenSea, we’ve removed the Shopping Cart feature. In the future, we will be consistently evaluating ways of making digital purchasing easier and faster.

We’re making these changes to streamline the OpenSea experience, reduce fragmentation, and continue building the best place to discover, own and trade onchain.

What’s Staying

Some legacy services, while they haven’t been fully integrated into the new OpenSea yet, aren’t going anywhere:

  • OpenSea Creator Studio (studio.opensea.io) will remain accessible, with no impact to existing functionality. It’s already integrated into the new OpenSea ecosystem.

  • OpenSea Developer API has a separate migration timeline. Devs, we’ve got you covered — more updates to come.

  • OpenSea Mobile Apps are being updated in parallel, and a phased migration plan is in motion.

Why This Matters

The new OpenSea reflects everything we’ve learned over the last few years and what we believe about the future of web3. It’s faster, more flexible, and fully equipped to support NFTs, tokens, and onchain activity across 19 chains and counting.

By consolidating into a single platform, we can iterate faster, ship smarter, and deliver the kind of experience our users deserve, with less overhead and more momentum.

As always, thank you for being on this journey with us. If you have questions or feedback, we’re listening. Join the conversation in our new Discord, or reach out via support.
