Tyler Hobbs releases ‘Order/Disorder’
Celebrating a decade since his first generative art creation, Tyler Hobbs celebrated the release of his new book, “Order/Disorder” on Oct. 29 at New York City’s Rizzoli Bookstore. The event brought art enthusiasts together to support the launch of the 240-page book, highlighting the evolving field of generative art from Hobbs’ point of view.
“Order/Disorder” covers a range of Hobbs’ projects from 2018 to 2023, including works shown at his solo exhibitions at Unit, a contemporary art gallery in London, and Pace Gallery in New York. Hobbs is perhaps best known for his collection, Fidenza.
Naomi Metzger documents her Olympic journey on-chain
British triple-jump champion Naomi Metzger is documenting her journey to the upcoming Olympics on the blockchain. The on-chain archive, found on Zora, will allow fans to both watch and collect her experiences leading up to the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
Pudgy Penguins announces mobile game ‘Pudgy Party’
After hitting Walgreens shelves last week, Pudgy Penguins is expanding into mobile gaming with Pudgy Party, a collaborative project with Mythical Games, the web3 studio behind NFL Rivals.
Set to launch in 2025 on iOS, Android, and the Polkadot-based Mythos Chain, Pudgy Party promises a twist on the popular knockout royale format by emphasizing teamwork and shared rewards. Players will reportedly dodge obstacles, customize their penguins, and work together to progress in a confetti-bedazzled arctic world.
Museum Of Art + Light opening in Kansas
Tickets are now on sale for the grand opening of The Museum of Art + Light, a new cultural hub based in Manhattan, Kansas, with an emphasis on digital and NFT-based art. The museum will showcase a rotating selection of immersive digital pieces in its new three-story building, including those minted on blockchain.
An upcoming exhibition entitled “Code & Canvas: Defining Digital Art in the Age of Blockchain” will spotlight five influential digital artists shaping today’s creative landscape: Erick Calderon, also known as Snowfro, will bring his pioneering generative art to the museum, while Tyler Hobbs, who merges his programming background with traditional painting techniques, will create dynamic visuals through code. Sasha Stiles will showcase her AI-collaborative poetry, which explores humanity’s collaboration with algorithmic language models. Finally, Grant Yun, who uses minimalist, retro-inspired digital art to capture everyday life, along with Emy Xie, whose work incorporates contemporary aesthetics and traditional folkloric motifs into code-driven designs, will be among the museum’s debut artists.
Matt Zhang joins the Whitney Museum digital art committee
Former Citi banker and Hivemind Capital Partners founder Matt Zhang has joined the Whitney Museum’s digital art committee. Zhang posted the new appointment on X just days after the museum announced a new development proposal to expand to the nearby Gansevoort Meat Market building in New York City’s meatpacking district. Starting in mid-December, the Whitney will be free for all visitors aged 25 and under.
Currently, new media artist Nancy Baker Cahill’s augmented reality (AR) creature, CENTO, can be viewed on the museum’s 8th-floor terrace and has an interactive mobile app experience.
Rekt Drinks sells out
Rekt Drinks, a new energy drink aimed at the NFT community, launched with a splash, selling 222,000 cans across 32 countries in just 48 hours. Developed by the web3 lifestyle company Rekt Brands, the brand positioned the new product as both a beverage and a community initiative offering unique perks and access. They also claim to have plans for future collaborations and events.
The brand is backed by key figures in the NFT and web3 space, including Pudgy Penguins CEO Luca Netz, Azuki founder Zagabond, NFT collector/influencer Seedphrase, Checks creator Jack Butcher, and the pseudonymous crypto art patron (rumored to be Snoop Dogg), Cozomo de Medici, and others.
