Louis Vuitton Announces Luxury Treasure Trunks NFTs
Luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton is making waves in the web3 world once again, two years after its initial NFT endeavor. On June 8th, the brand unveiled a set of phygital Treasure Trunk NFTs. Limited to a few hundred pieces, this project is part of Louis Vuitton's new "Via" initiative.
Louis Vuitton trunks are iconic luxury items, and to make the purchase of a Treasure Trunk NFT even more exclusive, the brand made the collection’s NFTs soulbound, or non-transferrable.
The Treasure Trunks, priced at close to $40,000, grant owners access to future Louis Vuitton collections, some with physical elements, experiences, and a community of other holders. While holders will not be able to sell or transfer their soulbound Treasure Trunk NFT, they will be able to sell or transfer items they mint in the future through their ownership of it.
Cryptopunks Celebrates 6th Anniversary
Happy 6th anniversary to Cryptopunks, one of the original collections in the NFT space to make waves.

In 2017, CryptoPunks became one of the first collections of its kind to launch on the Ethereum blockchain. Matt Hall and John Watkinson, the founders of Larva Labs, used software they developed to create and launch the collection of 10,000 unique NFTs.
CryptoPunks are an example of the pixel art style, and were created by remixing various unique traits to create the collection of 10,000 NFTs. The core types of CryptoPunks are categorized as “male,” “female,” “zombie,” “ape,” and “alien.” Each of these types can have up to 7 traits per Punk (called “accessories” in this collection) of which there are 95 total.
CryptoPunks was one of the earliest and now one of the most well-recognized NFT collections on the Ethereum blockchain, and it’s now considered the catalyst for the current state of NFT art space.
Streetwear Brand Weekday and Web3 Fashion house The Fabricant Drop Digital Sunglass Collection
Streetwear brand Weekday will make its NFT debut through a collaboration with luxury web3 fashion brand, The Fabricant, dropping June 13th. The collection of digital sunglasses, called Artifact 001, was inspired by the shapes of stalagmites and stalactites.
The drop includes 300 pieces, and each NFT includes 2 pairs of sunglasses, one in white and one in black. Holders can use an AR filter to showcase their sunglasses.
Weekday is a Swedish apparel company founded in 2002, and The Fabricant describes itself as a “thought-leader digital fashion house” that “aims to dress 100 million people by 2025,” according to its website.
Mercedes-Benz NXT Drops First NFT Collection, “Maschine”
Mercedes-Benz’s web3 arm, Mercedes-Benz NXT launched their first NFT collection, called “Maschine,” with artist Harm van den Dorpel, in collaboration with Fingerprints DAO. The collection is available on Opensea.
According to the brand, “Harm chose motion, velocity, and perception as core themes. Each unique artwork depicts a mesmerizing radial pattern of complex and constantly changing illusions that occur when certain objects spin and accelerate.” He created and trained a neural network for the project.
The collection was sold via Dutch auction. In contrast to a traditional auction, where the price increases until the highest bidder wins, a Dutch auction begins with a high starting price that decreases until supply is exhausted or a resting price is reached.
Mercedes-Bens NXT “marks a long-term commitment to building a dedicated presence within the Web3 community and to blockchain-based digital objects. The scope spans all of the Mercedes-Benz brands and product portfolio,” according to their site. The brand’s design team was closely involved in the collaboration from the concept to the creative direction.
