Refik Anadol turns TIME’s archives into an AI art dataset unveiled at TIME 100 AI event
At the TIME 100 AI event in San Francisco, media artist Refik Anadol revealed a new dataset built from TIME magazine’s more-than-century-long archive of over 5,000 covers.
Known for transforming data into large-scale visual experiences, Anadol said on X that the project is part of his ongoing effort to train AI on “ethical datasets” and large neural models that inspire creativity.
Anadol, who created TIME’s 2025 AI cover and leads the Los Angeles–based Refik Anadol Studio, is featured on this year’s TIME100 AI list, which since 2023 has highlighted the 100 most influential people shaping artificial intelligence. His fellow honorees include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Cloudflare co-founder Matthew Prince, Asteria Film Co. co-founder and actor Natasha Lyonne, OpenAI Head of Model Behavior Joanne Jang, and Cynthia Breazeal, an MIT professor known for her work in social robotics.
Sappy Seals holders get a Monad Purple Pass soulbound token
Holders of Sappy Seals, the cartoon-themed NFT collection, were airdropped a Purple Pass soulbound token (SBT) from Monad, a blockchain network in public testing. The SBT serves as a digital badge that stays locked to a wallet and proves early participation in Monad’s testnet.
Monad has been building momentum ahead of its mainnet debut. In March the chain distributed some 600,000 commemorative soulbound NFTs to early followers. It also opened claims this week for its MON token, which will eventually power transactions on its blockchain. Over 230,000 community members were reportedly eligible for the airdrop, including NFT holders like Sappy Seals.
On X, several holders posted screenshots showing they received Purple Passes and hit different claim tiers, suggesting the rollout is well underway.
MetaMask to integrate Polymarket prediction markets
MetaMask, the digital wallet used to store and manage cryptocurrencies, announced plans to connect with Polymarket, a website where people use crypto to guess the outcomes of real-world events like elections, policy changes or news stories.
The update will let users make those predictions directly inside the MetaMask app instead of visiting another site. The feature was reportedly shared in a recent MetaMask blog post, which also mentioned new in-app tools and a rewards program still in development.
Coinbase to launch Amex card with Bitcoin cashback this fall
Coinbase, the U.S. crypto exchange, is teaming up with American Express to roll out a credit card that pays users up to 4% back in Bitcoin (BTC). The card, expected to launch in the U.S. this fall, will reportedly be available exclusively to Coinbase One subscribers and lets purchases earn Bitcoin instead of points or miles.
The card’s design includes data from Bitcoin’s original 2009 Genesis Block, literally etched into the metal like crypto’s version of a commemorative plaque. Users on X posted videos of the card arriving in a holder adorned with text from the Bitcoin whitepaper, the 2008 document written by Bitcoin’s anonymous creator explaining how the system works.
Coinbase says rewards depend on a user’s holdings and can be repaid using cash or crypto.
Good Vibes Club adopts new token to power its online community
The digital art and community project known as Good Vibes Club just announced it will use a crypto token called Vibe Strategy ($VIBESTR) to run its online ecosystem.
The group said on X it plans to buy about $300,000 worth of the token for its shared community fund. According to the post, the token will be the base for an incentive layer built around collector experiences, brand partnerships and community activations.
Sci-fi game ‘Eve Frontier’ moves from Ethereum to Sui blockchain
Eve Frontier, the upcoming sci-fi survival spinoff of Eve Online, is reportedly shifting development from the Ethereum-based Redstone network to the layer-one (L1) blockchain Sui.
Developer CCP Games told Decrypt the decision was based on a “philosophical alignment” with Sui’s vision for virtual worlds.
Because the game is still in testing, players won’t have to move any items or data during the transition. CCP says the switch will allow for smoother onboarding, stronger security, and player-made modifications as it works to make Eve Frontier a “forever game.” The studio and Sui developer Mysten Labs are also exploring a version for the upcoming SuiPlay0X1 handheld console.
SheFi announces sponsors for its final 2025 cohort
SheFi, the women-led web3 education initiative founded by Maggie Love, announced that Season 15 will begin next month with support from crypto and tech partners. The program’s new sponsors include Coinbase’s blockchain network Base, the privacy-focused crypto-native web browser Brave, Decentraland, the 3D virtual world platform where people can own digital land and create experiences, and Endaoment, a nonprofit platform that connects cryptocurrency donations to real-world charities. All four are backing SheFi’s final 2025 cohort.
In a post on X, SheFi called the group “based, brave, and in the metaverse” since learning will take place partly in Decentraland. Another post said SheFi members “will continue to be immersed in this new onchain social experience” and learn “how to leverage the Base ecosystem to earn from their creations.”
Decentraland rolls out Fright Night templates for new metaverse builders
Decentraland, the popular virtual world where people build and hang out in 3D spaces, is getting ready for Halloween with its annual Fright Night event on Oct. 31. In preparation, the platform released two plug-and-play templates that let beginners create thematic houses without writing code. One house is haunted, and one is cozy and autumnal.
The templates will live in the Creator Hub starting Oct. 21 and work without coding, so users can drag, drop and customize their haunted houses quickly. Once finished, these builds can be placed either on LAND, a virtual plot owned by a user inside Decentraland’s main map, called Genesis City, or hosted in a World, which is a personal, standalone space that doesn’t require owning LAND.
To help new creators, Decentraland published a Fright Night guide and will host a special Office Hours on Oct. 30 from 5 to 6 p.m. ET to walk users through setup, customization, and publishing. The Halloween rollout coincides with Regenesis Labs’ Bring Your Vibe Hackathon, running through Oct. 27 inside Decentraland Worlds, where participants use AI tools to design interactive spaces and compete for prizes.
Together, both events aim to make building in the metaverse easier, more collaborative and more fun.
Doodles teases Halloween collaboration with Universal Monsters

The short black-and-white clip posted on X shows Doodles characters reimagined as vintage movie monsters, with lightning strikes and eerie music setting the tone. The post reads, “the stuff of nightmares.. reimagined,” and says the Universal Horror x Doodles release will debut later this month.
