Vitalik Buterin lays out Ethereum’s next possible steps

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin shared his thoughts on the future of Ethereum this week in a detailed blog post. He discussed how the network can evolve after its 2022 upgrade from proof-of-work consensus mechanism to the more energy-efficient proof-of-stake.

Buterin highlighted two main areas for improvement: speed and security. He proposed privacy upgrades using zero-knowledge proofs, a method that verifies transactions faster without exposing all the data. He also suggested new cryptographic tools to protect the network from cyberattacks. These changes could have a major impact on how Ethereum processes NFTs and decentralized finance (DeFi) in the foreseeable future.

BlockBar expands NFT e-commerce platform to artisanal wines and spirits

Blockchain-powered spirits marketplace BlockBar is widening its offerings to feature smaller, artisanal wines and spirits producers.

Though known for its high-end spirits, the platform is now shifting to focus on niche distilleries and wineries to better target Gen Z and millennial consumers looking for unique offerings that aren’t found in traditional retail settings.

Early releases of the new products include spirits from Famille Isabel Ferrando, a mother-daughter winemaking duo from Châteauneuf-du-Pape known for their carefully crafted vintages. Kicking off the campaign will also be rare vintages from Mezcal Amarás, an Oaxaca-based sustainable producer using local agave and traditional techniques, and spirits from French brandy producer, Armagnac Laubade

Through BlockBar’s NFT platform, collectors can own a digital certificate representing these rare bottles, which they can redeem for the physical product. Bottles can be shipped worldwide.

Asprey Studio and Pranksy collaborate for NFT REvolution

Asprey Studio, a London-based luxury goods house, is collaborating with Pranksy, one of the most well-known names in the NFT space. Together, they’re launching “NFT REvolution: I Am Pranksy,” running October 18 to 25 at the Asprey Studio Gallery in London.

This exhibition showcases a mix of digital and physical art curated by Pranksy, that spotlights the evolving concept of digital ownership. Visitors will see everything from digital dresses by Dolce & Gabbana to concept art by Doodles creator Burnt Toast & Goldenwolf Studios. There’s also a special feature on “OG” crypto artist, Miss AL Simpson. The exhibition gives a special look at how NFTs and blockchain are changing the way we buy, own, and value art, thereby blending traditional art with cutting-edge digital innovation.

Though Pranksy has humorously warned against using the term “physical,” the collaboration clearly mixes the physical with the digital in fun new ways.
