Adidas launches in-game apparel for Sui-based Xociety game

Adidas is teaming up with the developers of Xociety, a shooter-RPG built on the Sui blockchain, to release 2,600 limited edition NFT mystery boxes on May 16.

Each box costs $129 and contains Adidas-branded digital clothing for in-game avatars ranging in rarity levels from “Uncommon” to “First,” along with authenticity certificates and XCS tokens tied to Xociety’s ecosystem.

The NFTs will be usable inside Xociety and can be bought and sold on the Sui NFT marketplace Tradeport. Sales end May 23. The drop coincides with Xoxiety’s upcoming playtest on May 15 through the Epic Games Store.

This partnership marks Adidas’ latest web3 fashion move following previous NFT collaborations with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Doodles, and Stepn.

ArtMeta’s Digital Art Mile returns to Basel

Swiss metaverse platform ArtMeta is hosting Digital Art Mile in Basel from June 16 to 22, spotlighting blockchain-based art alongside the flagship Art Basel festival.

The event brings together a curated group of digital-first galleries, including generative art collective Bright Moments, Zurich-based crypto art gallery Vass Galerie, French NFT platform LaCollection, Berlin new media space The Second Guess, and Paris-based digital gallery Galerie Charlot, along with The Mayor Gallery, a London contemporary art space first founded in 1925.

Contemporary creators including pixel artist Grant Yun and AI photographer Ivona Tau have created new works inspired by the device.

A four-day conference series will feature speakers from institutions such as web3 outlet Right Click Save, The Sandbox, and the Whitney Museum of American Art

Registration is now open and interested visitors can find more information by following ArtMeta.

Black Mirror memecoin explores tokenized social credit

An officially licensed Black Mirror-themed token launched this week on KOR Protocol, a blockchain built for intellectual property (IP) sharing and cultural experimentation.

Designed around the Netflix series’ themes of surveillance and digital identity, the project uses a virtual AI assistant named Iris to track wallet activity and social media behavior, then assigns participants a reputation score.

These scores can unlock whitelists for NFT drops, exclusive chats, event passes and more. Users sign up for a Social ID Card, which is an NFT that records interactions and acts as a portable on-chain identity. Over 13,000 IDs have reportedly been claimed.

MapleStory N chooses Avalanche for its new game

Nexpace, a blockchain development studio backed by South Korean gaming giant Nexon, announced that MapleStory N, the first web3-native game in the 22-year-old MapleStory franchise, will launch on May 15.

The new title runs on Henesys, a custom L1 chain built on Avalanche, and will let players manage in-game items directly on-chain.

The launch follows large-scale playtesting, with a reported 31.5 million transactions logged from almost 1 million wallets.

The partnership officially kicks off at Valorant Masters in Toronto and will continue throughout major tournaments including Worlds and the Mid-Season Invitational.

According to the announcement, Coinbase will introduce in-game segments like “Econ Report” and “Gold Grind,” which will offer real-time insights into each match’s currency dynamics.

FIFA moves digital collectibles from Algorand to its own Ethereum-compatible chain

FIFA is transitioning its digital collectibles platform, FIFA Collect, from the Algorand blockchain to a new in-house Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible network called the FIFA Blockchain.

The migration is scheduled to begin May 20 and is meant to improve compatibility with popular crypto wallets, simplify payments, and lay the foundation for new fan engagement features.

The updated platform will reportedly support Ethereum wallets like MetaMask and Rabby, replacing Algorand wallets such as Pera and Defly.

Users who have exported their NFTs to external Algorand wallets must return them to FIFA Collect to ensure a smooth transition. Most other users will see their items migrate automatically with no action required.
