Artwork for Logic’s new album, Ultra 85, created by Sam Spratt

Rapper and producer Logic just dropped his much-anticipated new album, Ultra 85, featuring a 20-track song list and a lineup of musical guest artists. Web3 fans will recognize the album’s soft futuristic cover art by digital artist Sam Spratt, known for his Luci series, which has fetched millions in sales and captured the attention of high-profile collectors. Most recently, popular digital artist batz bought one of Spratt’s pieces, demonstrating the ongoing influence of Spratt’s work.

Spratt and Logic have been long-time collaborators and worked on the Ultra 85 album over its seven-year timeline. A recent post by Spratt suggests that Logic may soon pivot from rapping to produce “with grand instrumentation” the musical score for Luci.

Illuvium to integrate games into Samsung TVs at Gamescom

Illuvium, the open-world role-player game that launched its mainnet in early August 2024, is partnering with Samsung to bring web3 gaming to the company’s Smart TVs. The collaboration will debut at Gamescom, an annual industry fair held in Cologne, Germany, from August 21 to 25, 2024. There, fans will be able to experience all three games in the Illuvium universe (Overworld, Arena, and Zero) and potentially have the chance to win prizes.

Ubisoft partners with Arbitrum for new player-driven Web3 game

Assassins Creed creator, Ubisoft, has partnered with Arbitrum, an Ethereum layer-two, to launch a new web3 game entitled “Captain Laserhawk: the G.A.M.E.” Set in the dystopian world of Eden, the game allows players to shape the plot and make decisions that influence its direction. Thanks to blockchain technology, players will be able to create, collaborate on, and share content with one another, potentially boosting their citizen scores and gaining more influence.

The game will soon be available, with 10,000 Citizen IDs initially available to claim for early access.

Jack Butcher and Jalil Wahdatehagh release ‘Consensus Met’

Jack Butcher and Jalil Wahdatehagh — the partners behind Visualize Value and creators of the innovative Checks and Opepen digital art collections — have launched Consensus Met, introducing fans to a compelling new mechanic.

To mint a Consensus Met, collectors must “burn,” or permanently remove from circulation, an Opepen NFT. Burned Opepens lose their voting power in the ongoing Opepen art project. In exchange, they are replaced with new art and a separate Ethereum contract. There is a maximum supply of 16,000 Consensus Met NFTs.

As described in a recent edition of Bankless’ Metaversal newsletter, the project introduces a new type of intentional, irreversible scarcity. The decision forces collectors to choose which type of engagement is most important to them: the opportunity to collect a novel piece of art, or continue influencing an established project.

Atari launches ‘Breakout’ on Base

Classic game developer Atari officially launched its revived 1976 classic game, “Breakout” on Coinbase’s Ethereum L2 network, Base. As part of Base’s Onchain Summer event, players can compete for leaderboard spots and chances to win prizes.

To participate, players must connect their wallets and mint a Breakout NFT. Base announced that proceeds from the mints go directly to the developers and artists behind the game.

OpenSea to integrate GUNZ Blockchain for Gunzilla in-game items

Innovative AAA gaming studio Gunzilla Games is gearing up to launch “Off The Grid” (OTG), a new blockchain-powered battle royale game for PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, later this year.

Developed by industry veterans, OTG offers players a fresh take on the battle royale genre, with expansive boundary maps, story-driven gameplay and a more interactive universe with the ability to change the way players buy and sell in-game items.

As the first web3 game on PlayStation 5 consoles, OTG will operate on Gunzilla’s Avalanche-built GUNZ blockchain. This feature, first announced in April 2024, will allow players to gather in-game items and seamlessly list them as NFTs on OpenSea.
