Sotheby’s auctions set of seven ‘Autoglyphs’

From October 7 to 10, Sotheby’s held a first-of-its-kind sale for a complete set of seven “Autoglphys” from Seedphrase’s collection in a sealed auction titled Algorithmic Primitivism: Autoglyphs – A Set of Seven.

Created by Larva Labs in 2019, “Autoglyphs” are known as some of the earliest on-chain generative art pieces. These artworks exist entirely on the Ethereum blockchain as NFTs, making them immutable and historically significant.

mmERCH x Seedphrase collection nets $37,600 in Christie’s auction and mints out

The line of CryptoPunk-inspired hoodies by tech-driven fashion line mmERCH and NFT influencer Seedphrase sold out on October 4.
The exclusive collection of 322 hoodies, each paired with a 1-of-1 NFT artwork by AI artist Claire Silver, was fully minted out within 72 hours. Additionally, a sampling of five “Ultra-luxe” hoodies finished with Swarovski crystals fetched $37,600 at auction, with one special edition featuring Swarovski Created Diamonds selling for over $15,000.

‘Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery’ premieres October 8 

HBO’s “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery” premiered on October 8 and explored both Bitcoin’s origins and its influence on the global economy. The documentary dives into the mysterious identity of Satoshi Nakamoto and suggests that the mysterious Bitcoin Whitepaper author is Canadian programmer Peter Todd. 

Beyond the speculation, viewers get a glimpse of how the invention of Bitcoin disrupted traditional finance, with worthwhile interviews with the early pioneers of blockchain technology.

‘All the Zen’ by Crypokitties launches on Telegram

CryptoKitties, the early breedable cat NFTs, are back with a new game. “All the Zen” launched on the Telegram messaging platform on October 1. Since then, players have cracked over 3.7 million new Kitty eggs. “All the Zen” marks the first official product drop from the CryptoKitties intellectual property (IP) since the original collection dropped in 2017 and lets users exchange and collect the kitties in a playful, decentralized way. 

The new Telegram game is reportedly serving as a teaser for the collection’s upcoming launch on the Flow blockchain. A new Halloween event kicked off inside Telegram on October 8.

Lamborghini partners with Animoca Brands and Motorverse to create immersive world

Lamborghini and web3 venture studio Animoca Brands are launching Fast ForWorld, an immersive platform that redefines engagement and ownership. Announced on October 2, 2024, the platform will feature Lamborghini’s vehicles inside blockchain-based games. Fans will be able to store and play with unique digital vehicles and participate in quests. 

The collaboration marks Lamborghini’s first move into interoperable blockchain gaming. As described in Animoca Brands’ press release, the partnership will combine digital and physical experiences to “deliver groundbreaking experiences and extended loyalty for fans and customers.”

Telegram teases new ‘Gifts’ feature that uses NFTs

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov teased a new feature that will allow users to convert animated images inside the messaging app into NFTs. Gifts, which launched on October 5, are animated images used to send custom messages and artwork. Users can also convert them into Telegram’s in-app currency, Stars. This feature hints at Telegram’s deeper dive into web3 and digital items.

Off the Grid launches limited early access on PS5 and Xbox

Gunzilla Games’ battle royale shooter is now live, with limited early access on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X and S, as well as on PC via the Epic Games Store

The game is powered by Unreal Engine and built on Avalanche (more specifically on its own layer-one subnet called GUNZ), making it the first blockchain game on PS5. 

Epic Games announced the release on October 6, which gave players a first taste of its new features before its forthcoming full launch.
