Guild of Guardians is now available globally 

Guild of Guardians has officially launched globally. Players everywhere can now get lost in the immersive mobile role-playing game experience. 

In the game, players band together to “banish the Dread'' that has swept across Elderym, a once vibrant land in which the game is set. With strategic battles and collectible NFTs, the game has been considered one of the most anticipated web3 mobile games in the ecosystem. 

Immutable Passport hits 1M signups

The much-anticipated Passport from game developer Immutable has surpassed 1 million signups. In less than a month, signups surged from 400,000 to 1 million, said the company in a tweet.

The Immutable passport went live in December 2023 and works as an identity manager that lets players use a single sign-on and wallet. That way, it’s super easy to carry digital items across multiple crypto games and web3 marketplaces. The passport is integrated into popular games like Gods Unchained, Blocklete Golf and Guild of Guardians.

Anichess partners with esports giant Team Secret

Anichess, created by Animoca Brands and Chess.com, is teaming up with leading international esports brand Team Secret to elevate chess in esports through web3 tech. John Yao, Team Secret's CEO, will join Anichess as an advisor. 

As Anichess prepares to launch its player-versus-player (PvP) mode in the second half of 2024, the partnership will lean on Team Secret's esports knowledge and experience to improve and enhance the game. 

Anichess is known for combining classic chess with unexpected spells that bring mystical lore and strategic challenges for players to solve.

Farcaster raises $150M

Farcaster, a blockchain social media platform, has secured $150 million in investments. Investment firm Paradigm led the round, with a16z, Haun, Variant, Standard Crypto and USV joining in. Paradigm cofounder Dan Romero says the cash will go towards funding growth and hiring more engineers.

According to CoinDesk, Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin is a regular Farcaster user and the platform currently has 350,000 paid sign-ups and a growing app ecosystem.  

Julia Fox wears user-generated KIKI makeup

Julia Fox dazzled Twitter with a new look thanks to web3 beauty platform KIKI World. According to the tweet, Fox wore KIKI World’s Play Paint makeup in a color dubbed “Cosmic Pearl.” The color had been co-created by members of the KIKI World community before it was minted on Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, Base. 

Just for fun, the venue where KIKI World had its NFT NYC party in April 2024 now has a permanent cocktail called “Cosmic Pearl” to honor the brand.

VeeFriends Character Caps sell out 

Gary Vaynerchuk’s VeeFriends Character Cap Collection is officially sold out. Originally launched on May 15, the collection features six types of ball caps with embroidered character traits represented by some of the loveable VeeFriends characters. 

Qualities written on the caps include “ambitious,” “fearless,” “unwavering,” “gifted,” “outgoing” and “dedicated.”  

OpenSea and Optimism launch 'Get Based' NFT series

OpenSea is launching the “Get Based” series to highlight artists on Base. Presented in collaboration with Optimism, the initiative will feature emerging artists who will drop special pieces throughout the series. Weekly drops will happen on OpenSea and Farcaster. Some featured artists include RGB Punks creator Jhekub, Primitives creator Hun, and meme artist Cryptic Poet.
