At OpenSea, we’re focused on simplifying web3 for all creators so that they can focus on creativity and engagement instead of operational mechanics. Today, creators often have to use multiple platforms for different tasks, and some even outsource technical support to launch their NFT projects. To make this simpler for everyone, we’re launching OpenSea Studio, a one-stop shop for creators to launch and manage their projects, all on the world’s largest NFT marketplace.

What is OpenSea Studio?

OpenSea Studio launches today with the following features, with more capabilities coming soon (more on that below):

• Create and manage a drop end-to-end, including setting up allowlist phases, uploading media and metadata (with helpful preview functionality), and building the drop page
• Mint an NFT into your own wallet
• Create on most blockchains compatible with OpenSea
• Let buyers mint an NFT from your collection using a credit or debit card

And there are no coding or technical skills required to do any of the above!

Coming soon: Storytelling features and editions

Over the coming months, we’ll continue to add new functionality to OpenSea Studio, including: 

New collection pages:

• OpenSea is where collectors discover and learn about collections. We'll be adding storytelling units including immersive video/image/text modules, improved roadmap and FAQ, featured NFTs, and relevant collections. This will allow all creators and brands to showcase their work on a richer surface, and make it easier for collectors to learn about projects, right on the collection page.

Editions:

• What if dropping an NFT was as simple as posting a photo on Instagram? With our Editions product coming soon, you’ll be able to upload an NFT for sale quickly and easily. Editions will have the same great features as other OpenSea Studios tools (no code required, on all OpenSea-compatible blockchains, etc.)

Replacing lazy minting

With the introduction of OpenSea Studio, we’re making changes to how creators mint NFTs using tools from OpenSea. Historically, creators used lazy minting to create items that were not on-chain until they were sold or transferred. While this provided an easy way for creators to experiment with NFTs in the early days, we believe that the future of NFTs is one where creators deploy and mint from their own independent contracts. We're letting creators do just that with our new functionality in OpenSea Studio! 

As a step towards this future, we’re replacing lazy minting with OpenSea Studio. Effective today, you won't be able to create new items using the lazy minting tool. Existing items created using the lazy minting tool will still be able to be bought, sold, and transferred, but they won’t be editable going forward. You do not need to do anything in order for your collections with these items to persist.
