Efecto Cocuyo es un medio independiente venezolano fundado en 2015 por un equipo de mujeres periodistas, que se compromete a informar de manera libre y transparente, con el lema Periodismo que ilumina. Sin embargo, la misión del medio se ve comprometida al ser censurado digitalmente por el gobierno venezolano.

El equipo de VE sin Filtro verificó el bloqueo de los sitios web de Efecto Cocuyo en los principales proveedores de servicios de Internet (ISPs). Estos nuevos bloqueos comenzaron entre el 31 de enero de 2022 y el 1 de febrero de 2022. Las primeras mediciones con evidencia del bloqueo se obtuvieron a las 12:40 AM hora venezolana (UTC-4).

Estos bloqueos se suman a la larga lista de bloqueos de Internet en Venezuela incluyendo los más de 35 sitios web de noticias bloqueados en las elecciones regionales de 2021. Los bloqueos de Internet son implementados por los ISPs por órdenes del regulador de telecomunicaciones, en un proceso típicamente sin orden judicial, sin base legal clara, sin transparencia y violando los estándares internacionales de derechos humanos de libertades informativas y de expresión.

Los bloqueos son de tipo DNS y son aplicados por las operadoras CANTV, Movistar, Digitel, Supercable e Inter.

Es por eso que realizamos esta colección de 486 NFTs coleccionables, que representan cada día que Efecto Cocuyo lleva siendo censurado desde el inicio del ataque a la fecha del lanzamiento de esta colección. Cada NFT es una manera de apoyar financieramente a EfectoCocuyo e incluye acceso a un archivo descargable con los principales hechos reportados por Efecto Cocuyo que fueron afectados por la censura.

According to the organization VE sin Filtro, Efecto Cocuyo's websites are blocked in the main Internet Service Providers (ISPs). These blockades, which commenced between January 31, 2022, and February 1, 2022, were first confirmed at the stroke of 12:40 AM Venezuelan time (UTC-4), forever etching the evidence of censorship into the annals of history. These new additions to the growing list of internet blocks in Venezuela exacerbate an already troubling situation, with over 35 news websites being blocked, eventually, since 2021. These blocks, imposed by ISPs under the direction of the telecommunications regulator, are often carried out without proper court orders, lacking a clear legal basis, transparency, and flagrantly violating international human rights standards. For this reason we made this collection of 486 collectible NFTs, through which we transformed the error message that users see when they try to exercise their right to be informed into art.
