The photos were clicked by Gagan and Aman, at Pachmarhi, deep in the Satpura Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh, India. Combining photos clicked throughout the night, we were able to create the star trails. We selected this specific piece since stars represent the beautiful yet inhospitable outer space, the farthest depth of vision we can achieve through our eyes. In the initial seconds we see a night sky unadulterated by pollution, as time progresses, the sky is polluted by light from a campfire and the dead tree reveals itself, representing the impact of human activity on Earth’s ecology. We have tried to showcase that our destiny is bound to the survival of ecosystems, biodiversity and other natural systems that sustain our planet. The rhythmic, fast tempo of the tabla drums, represent the challenge of achieving sustainability within a short time frame to be able to effectively reverse climate change and preserve the ecology of the planet.
