Gears grind away, revolving and rotating in the background and across the surface of this single bristling orb. Meanwhile the flanking crystals pulse and the scales of the orb revolve to reveal an inner light source. The surfaces are mapped with 3D animated artwork created by the artist, Doodleslice. In this case the surfaces use gears representing industry and technology as a nod to the artist's previous work as an Innovator-in-Residence for a STEM & STEAM education outreach program sponsored by Georgia Tech.

The artist, Doodleslice, has been creating art for over thirty years in a variety of media, including painting, illustration, digital painting, hand-drawn animation, 3D animation, and other experimental formats as well as composing poetry. He studied with influential artists, including Grace Hartigan, Miriam Beerman, and Archie Rand.
