Fragmented was one of my first works ever created. This work uses a combination of charcoal drawings, nitric acid, copper and found objects. This composition comes together through the process layering and inverting amongst various Adobe software. Fragmented captures the natural and unnatural to create one of my influential pieces to date.

My name is Joshua Finlay and I come from the small town of Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, but moved to the big city of Cape Town - to chase my dream of becoming an artist. I achieved my Honours in Fine Arts at Stellenbosch University in 2021, where I focused on ideas of Plasticity and the motion of polymers amongst materials. I document chemical reactions and try to bring to light details usually missed by the human eye. Allowing others to see from my point of view is what inspires me to create.
