Herta Müller was born in Niţchidorf , Timiş County , Romania on August 17, 1953. She won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2009 for her works on life in Romania, Eastern Europe after World War II , the persecution of the German minority in the Romanian part of Banat , as well as her essays on the consequences of the war and her exile in Germany.
