Isabel de Velasco is the Menina who is standing to the right of the Infanta, in a pose of curtsying. She is dressed in a skirt that is known as "basquiña de guardainfante” (a pannier). In my vision, she is the most responsible of all the Meninas. Her mouth is small because I imagine her being quiet and reserved, always attentive and obliging. She is wearing a large medallion that is meant for her to be respected because it is a sign of her social status in a court full of symbology.
