During 2021/2022, work will focus on the United Nations 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals approved by 193 countries that constitute the global roadmap towards a new world, supported by administrations and social and economic entities.
17 Sustainable Development Goals
- End of poverty
- Zero hunger
- Health and well-being
- Quality education
- Gender equality
- Clean water and sanitation
- Affordable and clean energy
- Decent work and economic growth
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure
- Reduction of inequalities
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Responsible production and consumption
- Climate action
- Underwater life
- Terrestrial ecosystem life
- Peace, justice and strong institutions
- Partnerships to achieve the objectives
Based on the recognition that the 2030 Agenda is crucial in the attempt to find solutions to the serious civilizational and environmental crisis we are experiencing, it is important to underscore the following:
Utopía or Distopía?
The UN has surrendered to the big financial corporations. Democratic processes have been undermined by economic conglomerates, causing inequalities, successive losses of conquered rights and forced migrations due to wars and the climate crisis. Governments curtail social freedoms while implementing austerity policies, closing borders and promoting widespread forms of social control and discrimination. The latter we are seeing with the current healthcare crisis, where citizens must choose between making everyone safe and protecting their privacy.
The 17 Goals and their 169 targets have become a framework for exercising our utopias. En el mundo real, encontramos el retroceso, el fascismo, el autoritarismo y la radicalidad de una sociedad de clases, donde la mayoría tiene que aceptar el desempleo y la desesperanza. It is a system that definitely oppresses, discards and degrades the planet and its inhabitants.
Many analysts detect parallels between today's society and the world of the dystopian fiction novel 1984, suggesting that we are beginning to live in what is already known as an Orwellian society, where information is manipulated and mass surveillance and political and social repression are practiced.
During 2021/2022, we will work on the United Nations Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals approved by 193 countries that constitute the roadmap towards a new world, supported by administrations, social and economic entities.
It is an excellent reason to work on the existence of a flag that represents this global challenge unanimously subscribed.
The vehicle discipline for this cycle is graphic design and the art leader and curator is Mario Eskenazi, who will complete the team of participants and creators with the EINA design school and 3 professional studios.
FlagLab we have signed an agreement with the EINA school in Barcelona to introduce this project in the curriculum directed by Pilar Górriz in the course 2021/2022 with the commitment to hoist 6 flag designs that will remain raised on the mast of the Plaza del Sol following the calendar.
