One of Russia's propaganda slogans during the war "We don't leave ours" is one of many their lies as they don`t care about any of their people and use them as well as a common tool that carries no value after it becomes unusable. In contrast, the Ukrainian people take care of their own and other people's pets, neighbors, the elderly, children. Because life is a biggest value for us. Therefore, it is obvious that people could not leave their friends in danger. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.
