This is a hyalite opal taken at 30X magnification. Hyalite has trace amounts of uranium in it and fluoresces under UV light. When this photo was taken, it was taken under natural lighting--no UV light. I've enhanced the contrast, brightness and other settings to bring out the neat features of this cool mineral.
