I took this photo on an early morning hike up La Plata peak near Twin Lakes, Colorado. It towers above the region at 14,344 feet above sea level and is one of the 53 mountains in the state to reach such a staggering height and 5th tallest.
I started the hike in pitch black and was able to snap this photo just as the sun rose and I made it closer to the ridge. All of my creations start originally as photographs and then I edit them into the digital painting seen here.
