Virtual avatars / cosplaying is a medium of speculative worldbuilding. I always wonder what I would look like if I multiplied my age to 65+.
The world will be incredibly different from now: new mediums of work, new mediums of play, new forms of governance. It is my alter ego to be more of an introvert, even though I'm incredibly extroverted, and part of that introversion is seeing that patience and resilience is a far better character trait to aspire for in a fast paced landscape where FOMO is very big.
My alter ego is a 65 year old introverted male that wanders in big dense cities hanging out at midnight bookstores really using my time to plan strategically among a landscape that changes very frequently. I value slow growth over relentless scale.
My work explores how our digital technologies mix with our urban lifestyles. In the Roaring 20s, I believe that digital subcultures will emerge as more relevant than nation-state identity due to the proliferation of cryptocurrencies, metaverse identities, and NFT. My art explores how this shapes the labor market, the future of work, and restructures our social, economic and cultural hierarchies that make up our world.
