ABOUT THE BOOK (In Portuguese): Este é um livro para graduandos e pós-graduandos em Filosofia, tal como também para professores que se interessam em ministrar esta sub-área da metafísica contemporânea e para pesquisadores que queiram se introduzir nesse tema. Conforme eu disse, este livro trata de um tema interno à metafísica; por isso o início do livro vai falar um pouco de metafísica. Depois apresentaremos a própria questão sobre a natureza fundamental das leis da natureza e as principais teorias que tentam fornecer soluções para a questão, tal como seus principais problemas. Discutiremos um pouco a questão sobre o estatuto modal das leis, i.e., se as leis são contingentes ou necessárias, e, por último, apresentaremos um problema de metafísica da física, sobre os princípios ou leis que regem as próprias leis da natureza
