This look. Oh this look. When you are in the presence of such amazing creatures and they allow you to exist in their world, it is truly an incredible experience that I don't really know how to describe. I always find people's interpretation of photos like this interesting though. Up until recently I had only shared my work with a handful of people I know personally. All of them made similar comments along the lines of "it looks like he wants to eat you". When in reality it's a look of curiosity, acceptance, and understanding.
This particular moment was special. I had spent a little over an hour with this bear when this photo was taken. When he first showed up I was sitting along the bank. He came down to the creek, gave me a few looks, fished for a minute, then left. When he left I didn't follow him or harass him. I just stayed where I was and existed. Eventually he popped back up further down the creek. I didn't move or approach him.....
