London Underground :: A Subculture Photographic Series.

Snapshots of the darker side of London through ubiquitous calling card-laden telephone boxes that openly solicit sex for money outside most London tube stations around our city’s capital.

Observing these viewpoints through the artistic lens, allowing viewers to consider what they signify for us today. Phone boxes are on death row and eventually, London’s network of pimps will have to resort to other places to peddle sex, but that’s all the more reason to take a long last look at these ‘boxes of tricks’!

The images in this series represent a sex-trade subculture that has persisted over time, providing public-facing concentric circles emanating outward from it: human trafficking, child prostitution, drug culture. These images are snapshots of an underground culture, but ironically what I’m taking in these images is at the surface where everyone can see it and nobody seems to care.
