One of a number of striking images taken from an epic Tilt Brush piece I hand painted earlier this year, inspired by Frank Herbert's DUNE novels.
Paul Muad'Dib awaits the approach of the great worm which some call old man of the desert. He uses a thumper to pound the sand, the giant worm will sense vibrations and come hissing through the dunes in searh of it. The timing of his actions has to be just right, with his maker hooks Paul will ascend the segmented body by prising open a crack between them, the worm will sense this and turn the crack skywards to avoid the sand and once atop the beast, Muad'Dib will claim his place as a true sandrider of the tribe.
