This image is a colorful 2D extrapolation based on a bronze sculpture I did back in about 1995. I suspect that it happened because as I have gotten older, I've become increasingly aware of color and do everything I can to surround myself with it. My paintings have become more colorful, as has my language. But when you get to be as old as I am, most people will cut you some slack when it comes to swearing. They also don't seem to think it is so weird if you want to go to bed early.
But I find color to be something of a positive feedback loop. I now choose to spend the money to have fresh cut flowers on the dining table and in my studio all the time, and this has apparently heightened my craving for color. I'm now a color junkie, and I have no idea where it will stop.
And I really love the idea that I could digitally "remaster" something that could never have had this color or complexity and give it a new, brilliantly colorful life.
