This audiovisual fly through of a scene sculpted in VR with tiltbrush follows the millennia spanning journey of a fish-like species that gains intelligence from a source not of their dimension.
Follow the ancestor shoals as they discover a strange coral that has formed tall spiky rocks that ooze consciousness-expanding bubbles which seem to sing with them. Fast forward a few million years and the evolved shoal-people revisit the coral with their advanced technology and discover the coral has ancient glowing runes carved into it, indicating that their enlightenment must come from a source far older and more alien than they could have possibly imagined.
The title is derived from 'Self-actualisation' which is part of the process of becoming self aware. The 'coral' in this scene is actually a 3D, photogrammetry scan of the artist's head which they then built and subsequently discovered the world around it. This artwork is the final contribution to the artists 'Rediscovery' series.
