One Giant Leap is a surreal and eerie reflection on our evolution as a species, an exploding Darwinian themed Russian Doll diorama of sorts, tracing our origins from the water below, single cell organisms to fish which learned to walk. Some may recognise the next layer, a Durlstodon style rodent, one of our earliest known ancestors which flourished around 145 million years ago. And leaping up to the next layer we see the bones of a great ape straining towards a spacesuit, space apes reaching for the stars or some faintly imagined future, firing a ray gun out into the void, a desperate and ultimately useless gesture of violence, trying to stay relevant, but failing utterly under the scanning beams of the AI drones, a suggestion of the next potential stage in evolution, our children, the intelligent machines and computers of tomorrow flying effortlessly above us. Hand painted in VR with a soundscape I designed using royalty free audio sourced at 99 Sounds and Look Mum No Computer.
