Modern Interpretation of Giuseppe Arcimboldo - Four Seasons in One Head, c. 1590
Arcimboldo's original work portrayed the four seasons of the year as a composite figure made up of natural elements such as fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The modern reinterpretation retains this concept, but the figure is now encased in a layer of plastic, which obscures the natural elements and renders the composition lifeless.
The allegory of this painting is that our addiction to single-use plastics and disposable goods is destroying the natural world and robbing it of its vitality and beauty.
The plastic wrap that encases the figure symbolizes the pervasive nature of plastic pollution, which has infiltrated every corner of our planet and threatens to choke out the very life it was meant to sustain.
