I left my job a few days ago to move to a larger PR firm with a creative team I'm hoping I can take photos for. I was only able to negotiate one week off in between, so I booked a last minute ticket to Hawaii, spending every free second I have exploring.

I wanted to see the incredibly rare lava hose, but my boat tour got cancelled due to high wind. By some miracle, the fifth company I called had a last minute cancellation, so I rushed to the harbor.

The lava hose was the most incredible feat of nature I’ve ever been lucky enough to witness. I could feel the dry heat emanating off of it from the boat. The oscillating fog is a gas so poisonous it took the lives of several hikers that got too close.

And when the boiling lava collides with the coolness of the ocean, the explosion creates tiny fragments of glass that look like pieces of glitter floating through the air.

It’s crazy how something that can instantly kill you could be so beautiful.
