Aurélie, The Golden One.
Taking inspiration from my 2D traditional art, this piece extends into 3D space including animation and sound.
The setting resembles a precious vintage music box. The figurine is part of a sophisticated mechanism, similar to those seen in precision mechanical objects like high end watches or Fabergé eggs.
The overall design is based on beauty and balance. That is combined with the idea of the "Blue Flower", a symbol of the German Romantic age. The elegant figure of Aurélie, seems distant or aloof. It is almost as if she is merging with a mechanism from another age, and her pose suggests a metaphysical quest for the infinite. But with gold being more or less the complementary color of blue, Aurélie promises fulfilment rather than longing.
Vintage design elements are set against a bold and contemporary color composition. The underlying melody of a vintage music box is blended into an uplifting modern day beat.
