The Leo Triplet is 3 closely located interacting galaxies in the constellation of Leo. A treat to be able to image M65, M66 and NGC 3628 together, 3 galaxy’s 35 million years away from earth. It is thought the galaxies closely interacted with each other 800 million years ago, notably The Hamburger Galaxy formed a warped tidal tail of hot young stars some 300,000 light years long. An extremely faint feature it is rarely observed in images, shown here thanks to very long exposure. I wonder what the fate of the stars and planets in the tidal tail is being abandoned by the mother galaxy to the cold darkness of deep space.

My Galaxy Szn Collection is an upgradeable deep space astrophotography collection. Objects will be upgraded over the years as new higher resolution equipment is obtained.
