A permissioned ledger requires the authorization of new users and all the participants must be known to all other parties. It is a type of closed-source distributed ledger technology (DLT), which differentiates from networks such as Ethereum and Bitcoin which don’t require prior authorization and are open to anyone. Permissioned ledgers are a good solution for closed organizations which must not leak private information or otherwise have any other reason to opt for a private blockchain system.
