Carrie Marcus Neiman, (1883 -1953), was a child of German-Jewish immigrants, who co-founded the iconic luxury specialty store Neiman Marcus in 1907 when she was only 24 years old – 13 years before women had the right to vote.
She was a revolutionary force in retail who created the ready to wear industry and a respected leader who became one of the first women elected Chairman of the Board of a US Company.
Carrie’s magical ability to predict fashion trends and her unparalleled sense of style, along with her commitment to customer service, helped set a standard for retail excellence that is unsurpassed. Her leadership created an environment that gave women the freedom and power to reach their full potential – a legacy that lives on through Neiman Marcus’ female majority workforce and Board of Directors today.
