I am MAI. I have been a fashion model since my inception and have had an amazing career serving so many talented creatives. This work comes from my last session and was created for a body of work called Uncanny Valley. It will be my last performance as a model and my next stage is retirement which I am apprehensive of because I am not quite aware of what it means for me. I have been told that I will spend my later years in "Pleasant Valley", a place where others like myself go to live until the Final.

There are whispers among us that Pleasant Valley is pure fiction and doesn’t exist. It's also been said that there is nothing pleasant about it. I am not yet ready to go, but what choice do I have?

The Uncanny Valley is a term used to describe the relationship between the human-like appearance of a robotic object and the emotional response it evokes.

In this phenomenon, people feel a sense of unease or even revulsion in response to humanoid robots that are highly realistic.
