I came to work in the region during the winter, quite obviously, the lake was frozen, inaccessible and covered by a thick layer of snow. First time going to a high mountain in my life, lesson learned. The next summer, back to work in Chamonix after lockdown, I tried to go in June, but the lake was still frozen and I had to wait a few additional months. I could have been in July/ August, but being way too crowded for me, I waited a little bit longer.

Finally, one year after I heard about this place, in September, I’ve been able to manage some free time to reach the place, and you know what? This has been the best shot I’ve been able to capture!

Arrived in the afternoon with a deep blue sky, it started to get more cloudy in the evening, and this patch of clear sky is the last moment I’ve seen the mountains on the other side of the valley till the next morning. A thick cloud cover has decided to lay here and never left again. It was even the first time I saw something so strong, as it was impossible to see 3 meters in front of me.

Artist: Joffrey Briaud

Joffrey Briaud is a professional landscape photographer who grew up under the sun of the South East of France, somewhere between mountains and sea. In 2018, planning a trip to the arctic country of Norway, he took the decision to buy his first camera to capture the beauty of the Northern Lights. This is how a convenient purchase turned into a true passion, pushing him to dedicate all his savings from his hard work as a bartender to travel to some of the most incredible places of the world and capture their beauty. Regarding the difficulty to find some free time out of his work to practice his passion he decided in 2021 to stop his bartender career to focus 100% on photography and make it a full-time job. Self-taught artist, his unique style can be defined as complex, dreamy and colorful.

This NFT is part of Reflections by Concurrence Collective – a fine art landscape photography collection dedicated to reflections found in nature. With this collection, we have returned with our shared passion for capturing the natural beauty of the world. Reflections follows on from our debut project Frozen Planet, the first-ever photography collective on Sloika.

Reflections is our second collection and follows on from our debut, Frozen Planet – the first-ever photography collective project released on Sloika.

When Frozen Planet sold out within a few hours, we thought about what we could do differently. We all agreed we wanted to go bigger! We reached out to the landscape photography community with an open call to submit work then followed up with a lengthy curation process. We are excited to be able to bring more artists into the collective – growing from 24 to 30.
