Shibuya is a special region of Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. One of the main commercial and financial centers in the world, it is home to the two busiest stations in the world: Shinjuku Station (in the southern part) and Shibuya Station.

Shibuya is located next to Shinjuku, another famous special region in the Tokyo Metropolis, and also next to Shinagawa.

Shibuya was historically the site of a castle in which the Shibuya family resided from the 11th century to the Edo Period. Following the opening of the Yamanote Line in 1885, Shibuya began to emerge as a railroad terminus for southwestern Tokyo and became a major commercial and entertainment center.

Shibuya has gained a lot of popularity among young people since the early 1980's. There are many fashions department stores in the area. Shibuya 109 is the main shopping center near Shibuya Station, particularly famous as the origin of the kogal subculture.
