There are so many things we do not see in this world. Things that are not obvious and apparent, that lie underneath or covered up. Stories that are forgotten, people who are left aside. In my work, I pay attention to images, objects, narratives, and individuals that are shaded or shadowed. Similar to an archaeological practice, I expose them to the light of day and carve their mark on our reality.

To make the invisible visible, I explore different techniques and media. In the work “Emerge I”, I unveil the image of a woman, which at first was not there. Using a transparent UV varnish, I transposed her image onto the surface of the paper, remaining imperceptible to the naked eye. I then applied Indian ink, which was only absorbed in the sections the varnish did not touch. While the composition is always the same, I stroke different parts of it in every print with my brush, making each completely unique.

Just like each of us is one of a kind – and our life experiences are particular and extraordinary – this character is unrepeatable. Her eyes, however, will always remain fierce to fight for her protagonism in this world.
