Happy Easter 😌🥚💐

I’m happy to release “One Easter After the Divorce”— the fourth poem of my first collection “family & other types of trauma.”

I love this one. I wrote it last Easter, and it’s one of the first poems I wrote exploring what it was like to grow up in a Baptist Christian church. The poem criticizes the patriarchy within, which can be interpreted throughout the poem—and ultimately in the last line: the speaker’s frustration with wanting to be “believed.”

I hope these poems remind you that you are not your trauma and that you are not alone.

Collectors of this first collection will be kept in mind for my (near) future & more developed poetry collections!
