Photograph of curtains in a hotel room in Rochester, NY.
I've been working as a photojournalist, documentary photographer and artist for the past 30 years. This photograph is part of an ongoing body of work that represents the culmination of that experience. Lately I've moved away from traditional photographic projects and linear narratives, instead I've been making photographs that can both stand on their own as individual artworks, and at the same time be recontextualized in different combinations of seemingly disparate images. The ties binding these photographs together are tenuous, just like the threads that hold together our contemporary society. These photographs are less about a specific place, and more about the time we live in.
