Description: 'The Celestial Burial of an Artist', derived from Zhang Huan's performance 'My New York' (2002) where the artist dressed in an iconic raw meat suit, is Zhang Huan's debut performance art NFT partnered with EchoX. Taking place in a virtual game room, 'The Celestial Burial of an Artist' invited the audience to take turns to interact and eliminate Zhang's avatar taken directly from 'My New York', yet this time for the metaverse the meat suit came in a total of 6 colours. Audience members could then decide to mint their interactions into an NFT collectible, 2,500 NFTs would come together for Zhang Huan to create the monumental artwork set to be collected by the State Hermitage Museum.
