The International Space Station postal stamp is the second of the Space Exploration Collection and is a tribute to the largest known artificial object in space and the largest satellite in low Earth orbit.
The ISS is a multinational collaborative project involving five participating space agencies: NASA (United States), Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), ESA (Europe), and CSA (Canada). The station serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which scientific research is conducted in astrobiology, astronomy, meteorology, physics, and other fields.
The International Space Station postal stamp was launched on the Ethereum Blockchain at the exact time of the launching of Soyuz - ISS 64S rocket (April 9 20201, 07:42 GMT) from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. The Soyuz mission is to launch the crewed Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft to the International Space Station with members of the next Expedition crew. The capsule will remain at the station for about 6 months, providing an escape pod for the residents.
The number of copies - 98 - is also a celebration for the year 1998, when the first ISS component was launched. Sky is not the limit!
