SPECTATOR #01 1 of 8 from the SPECTATOR Poster Series

This work is part of a collection of posters made during an artist residency I had at AIR3331 in Chiyoda, Tokyo in February-March 2018. The poster series served as a visual diary based on the date notated on the poster (02.03.18). The series explores the act of viewing culture through the lens of the other, and visual cues drawn from Japanese graphic design.

The poster series was digitally printed at a local print shop in Tokyo. The prints were then screen printed on top of by a screen exposed by the sun at the residency. This lead to some beautiful inconsistencies I tried to represent in this digital set. The pieces were sold at an exhibition held during the residency. The show the 8 set poster series were exhibited and sold was called "ULTRA FLAT LAYERS".
