The Super Flower moon shines bright against the city of Los Angeles as it rises out from behind the clouds. The warm rich colors of the moon contrast nicely against the dark structures and contrasting blue LED lights on the skyline.
LA Luna is an 18 piece 1/1 collection by Brandon Yoshizawa representing years of planning and perfecting alignments of the moon to combine the best of astrophotography and cityscape photography.
The moon has many symbolic meanings and is Earth’s natural satellite completing a pass around it every four weeks. Aligning the moon behind historic landmarks around Los Angeles is not only a photographic art, but a science to master exact angles and altitude levels to be able to capture the moon and a given subject perfectly in one frame. A telephoto lens is used standing several miles away from the subject to compress the foreground and the moon, making it a prominent feature in every one of these photographs. Precise planning and execution are needed at these focal lengths as a slight error in calculation can make or break that perfect alignment.
