As told in Fluf lore, during the great hibernation only a small number of Flufs remained awake to try help build a better world for their brothers and sisters. Carrots were in extremely short supply and an alternate food source to sustain the Fluffle was needed urgently. Forest had grown up on the edge of the woodlands and over time had taken to exploring the old growth canopy. This was an extremely dangerous place where Flufs were easy prey for Haast Eagles. As he grew older, Forest continued to travel further within the woods as he honed both his bushfluf and camoufluf skills. He was so good he could hop within 7 bunny lengths of an Eagle without detection. Little did he know that one day these skills would result in salvation for the Fluffle. It was indeed dire times for the Fluffle, famished and on the brink of starvation, Thumper sent Forest out in search of carrots yet again. Returning to his routes, Forest decided he would venture to the deepest depths of the woods on an all or nothing adventure. Just when he had all but given up hope, he discovered a mysterious glade surrounded in an odourous orange mist that smelt like sulphur. Peering through with his keen purple eyes, he spied carrot tops dotted throughout the clearing. Tentatively, he hopped across the sodden ground and tugged on a small one. To his surpise the carrot freed easily and it was the most orange of orange colours he had ever witnessed, the ultimate store of carotene. Forest took a nervous nibble of the carrot and to his complete surprise it split in two but remained the same size. Biting again the same thing happened. Could it be? Had Forest discovered carrot mecca!? Returning to the underground, Forest pas sed his bounty to Thumper. Extremely stubborn, Thumper was never easy to impress but news of this mitosis capable carrot had him beaming from ear to ear. Forest was immediately hailed a hero by the Fluffle and to this day is revered in Fluf lore as one of the greatest living Flufs to have ever Flufed for without his contribution, they would have surely not survived. He now spends his days teaching camoufluf to the next generation but is rarely seen.
