David McDonald was born to a family of rabbits in the forests outside of town. He was a small, scrawny thing, and his red eyes glowed brightly in the darkness. He was always getting into trouble, chewing on things he wasn't supposed to and running around when he should have been sleeping. His parents tried their best to rein him in, but it was difficult. As David grew older, he began to explore the woods more and more. He found hidden paths and secret places that nobody else knew about. He also discovered that he had a talent for finding things that other people had lost - coins, jewelry, even whole wallets! He started tying neckties around his neck as a way of keeping track of all his findings (and because they looked dapper). When he turned sixteen, David ran away from home to join a pirate ship. It didn't take long for him to realize that the life of a pirate wasn't as glamorous as he'd thought it would be - it was dirty work, with little pay and no appreciation. After a few years, David left the pirates and struck out on his own. He turned his talents to thievery and quickly became one of the most successful thieves in the land. But no matter how much money he made or how many treasures he acquired, David could never shake the feeling that something was missing from his life... until he met Alice. Alice was a young woman who had been down on her luck ever since she could remember. She'd been orphaned as a child and forced to fend for herself on the streets of Bytowne. When she met David, she saw something in him - something special - and she knew that he could change her life if only she let him. And so she did...
