Mount Elbert is the tallest point in Colorado towering at 14,440 feet above sea level. It lies 12 miles southwest of Leadville among the Sawatch mountains. I hiked the peak in October of 2021 as my first 14er. It is a long hike, about 13 miles and 4600 feet of elevation gain. This photo looks back on the trail from the summit, down onto Twin Lakes on a crisp fall day with a few lone clouds in the sky.
