Full solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st, 2017 from Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
I’ve had some surreal experiences shooting photographs over my career, from hanging out on alpine walls in Antarctica to skiing from the summit of Everest, but this was a special, almost transcendental experience. This celestial episode seemed to stall time and space. I will never forget the absolute sense of awe and the quietness that fell upon the valley as the eclipse happened. I am thankful I remembered to press the shutter release button. This image shows the exact moment when the sun edged from behind the moon to create the diamond ring effect.
