The Red Weed pt2 is an Aerochrome infrared shot photographed on Dartmoor in the UK. I grew up with a fondness for Science Fiction and the art surrounding it. Over the last five years, I've experimented with various infrared types to achieve surreal landscapes beyond the norm.
Now discontinued, Aerochrome film was originally for aerial photography, cartography and military applications. Aerochrome is sensitive to the entire visible spectrum of light in the same way as standard film, the only difference is that its sensitivity is extended way beyond the invisible near-infrared.
Luckily, it is now possible to shoot Aerochrome with a full spectrum converted digital camera and specialist filters, giving similar results to the original film. This makes this surreal shooting technique more accessible, and it's increasing in popularity.
